The Courage Buddy™ Bundle, a Supportive Resource for Difficult Times
Over a year ago, a friend of mine suffered through the fear and exhaustion of chemotherapy.
And every day, she said the road was incredibly hard.
Until one day,
I sent her a phearnik!® Courage Buddy™ Bundle—a small reminder that courage, comfort, and friendship were right there beside her. I wanted her to feel that she didn’t have to face her struggles alone.
And because of that, she wrote to me to say,
“I just read about Phoebe and have my phearnik! sitting here with me! Thank you so much. They both are adorable. My phearnik! may just have to accompany me to my first radiation session next week. Maybe I won’t be so fearful about showing my [body part] to every medical professional in [town]!”
And because of that, this past year, I sent a Courage Buddy™ Bundle to another friend and her young grandchildren who unexpectedly and suddenly lost their mom.
And because of that, she sent this picture and said,
“This arrived today. What a great gift for this particular time. Who would have ever thought it would be so helpful in a time like this. Thank you.”
And because of that, I gave another Bundle to another friend whose cancer treatment was, once again, taking a change.
“Thank you for the book and doll,” she said. “I put phearnik! next to the door. …You know I have God and Jesus. So, phearnik! is my Jesus.”
And finally, she said,
“I was at the center the other day [getting treatment] and I wish I had phearnik! [Courage Buddy™ Bundles] to give out to the people there. Oh my gosh, they’re so scared. They don’t even talk!”
And ever since then, the Courage Buddy™ Bundle continues to serve as a supportive resource for difficult times. How the Bundle Works
The Bundle pairs the picture book, “Phoebe and phearnik! Fight BIG Fears,” with phearnik! the Courage Buddy™ plush. The book tells the story of how the Courage Buddy™ works.
In the book, “Phoebe and phearnik! Fight BIG Fears,” Phoebe, creates a “phearnik!®” (or Courage Buddy™) to keep her BIG fear small. This allows her to leave her comfort zone and face new experiences with courage.
Readers use their phearnik!® Courage Buddy™ plush as a reminder to pause, breathe, and take the next small step.
